Simulation and Training

High-fidelity Solutions. Immersive Training Environments. Maximizing Mission Readiness.

Flight time is crucial to developing a pilot’s skill, turning reactions into reflexes and ensuring the safety of the aircraft and all onboard. But there is rarely enough flight time available to train every pilot exclusively in an actual aircraft, whether for basic flight skills or for multi-entity, networked tactical mission tasks. That’s why training needs to reflect the range of systems and situations that could be encountered, even as requirements and technologies evolve. Platforms with limited fidelity can hinder these efforts. Pilots need training solutions that deliver a true-to-life experience to enhance their proficiency at all levels and increase their confidence, through realistic networked scenarios in immersive, synthetic tactical environments.

That’s the Veraxx difference. We design, develop and integrate high-fidelity systems that create a realistic training environment enabling complex networked mission tasks to be accomplished. And, we do so on time, on schedule and with the required system performance. The entire training journey is supported, from PC-based trainers and networked instructor stations, to Flight Training Devices (FTDs) and Containerized Flight Training Devices (CFTDs), all the way to motion-based Full Flight Simulators (FFS) that ultimately provide aircraft-like, fully immersive training.

Our training systems can be implemented within a large building or containerized for outside placement and relocation flexibility, while retaining the capability to network and train collectively in fully integrated tactical environments.

Veraxx’s solutions are unparalleled in their realism, making them the training systems of choice for the most demanding organizations across the DoD, our Allies and for aircraft OEMs.

Why Veraxx

For the DoD, “train as you fight” means ensuring readiness and providing required skills to complete the mission. Veraxx simulation and training solutions enable a large majority of mission essential training tasks to be completed realistically and highly effectively at a fraction of the cost of flight hours. This high level of realism is a direct result of our large scale systems engineering and integration capabilities, providing engineered solutions with the latest technology — on-time, within budget and meeting specification requirements.

Veraxx Instructor/Operator Station (VIOS)

VIOS is a suite of reconfigurable software components that accelerates the design and deployment of simulator-specific instructor/operator stations. Designed with open software and interfaces, VIOS is deployed on inexpensive, non-proprietary hardware. The VIOS has a Client-Server architecture which provides extensive configuration flexibility. To minimize interface costs, the Client and Server communicate via standard Ethernet. VIOS comprises the following components: IOS Graphical User Interface (“GUI”), host-based IOS server, GUI page editor, navigation data editor.

Video Distribution and Streaming System (VDASS)

VDASS consists of one or more video servers which capture video (e.g., ISR video) from several sources and make the video streams available throughout an ethernet network to any number of viewing clients. Each viewer is capable of displaying up to 16 video streams.

Modular Aviation Common Computing Environment (MACCE)

MACCE is a suite of modular S/W components operating in a common computing environment that accelerate the design and deployment of Real-Time cyclic programs — the core of complex simulators and training systems. MACCE was designed to foster maximum reuse of a simulation environment on multiple training systems with different vehicle systems. MACCE is a government off the shelf (GOTS) product that is maintained and improved by Veraxx, currently for use within the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps.

MACCE’s flexibility allows multiple use cases. Designed with open software and interfaces, MACCE can be deployed on inexpensive, non-proprietary hardware. Works with Veraxx Plot Monitor Control (VPMC) to manipulate and measure symbol data.

Veraxx Plot Monitor Control (VPMC)

VPMC interfaces with MACCE, providing MACCE symbol manipulation capability and measuring tools. The VPMC client receives symbol data and allows the user to change the symbol data remotely, then display the symbol data on a graphical chart.

VPMC provides a UDP interface between the MACCE-driven Host and the VPMC client application. Interface configuration is set in a VPMC configuration file, that provides communication socket settings, and standard application customization. During startup, the VPMC server reads all available global symbols from the MACCE database management file and provides the VPMC client with a list. The symbols are shown in an update list or strip chart. The symbol update list displays the 60hz value of a symbol, and the user can change the value of that symbol. The plot frame gives the user the ability to graph four symbols on a strip chart. The plot lines and the strip chart are configurable as well.

Sync Board (PCI/PCIe)

Veraxx’s synchronization interface board provides a real-time clock via an external or an internally generated interrupt. The sync board is highly configurable, and all logic on the board is performed inside a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), allowing for custom configuration of input, outputs, and functions. The daughter board interface allows for multiple inputs and outputs.

Available versions support PCI and PCI-E based computers. Linux drivers are included.
